Why 31 facts? Because I’m 31 years old of course!


A fellow blogger who I hold in high regards, Bob Lotich at SeedTime – ChristianPF.com, recently wrote an article which inspired me to do the same. In case you’re wanting to know a little more about me or just want to find some goofy facts about me, here are 31 random facts so you can get to know me better.


  1. I’ve played guitar since I was 11, been in several worship bands, and own more guitars than my wife would like 🙂 Young Parker Waldrop Guitarist
  2. When I was 13 I went to Europe for a People to People Ambassador program. At 13, I visited several countries and bought a sword without any (of my own) parental supervision! It was great!
  3. I worked at my first ever job with 8 different stores over more than 7 years.
  4. I believe continual personal development is one of the most important things a person can do in their lives right behind spiritual development – learning to know and love God.
  5. I spent the most money on a pair of running shoes than my entire life of shoe buying for my 31st birthday. Almost immediately following this purchase, I found out I had a torn meniscus in my left knee and had to have surgery. No more running in these shoes…
  6. I am a techy, I love gadgets and finding new things to do with them.
  7. On that note, I am currently anxiously awaiting my Remix Mini, which I funded on Kickstarter, that is an Android based PC which I plan to use for my home theater system!
  8. Our master bedroom doubles as a classroom for my oldest who is in kindergarten.
  9. We have 2 boxers (best dogs ever) and 6 people (2 adults and 4 kids) living in a small 3 bedroom apartment because we would rather be able to pay off and get debt free rather than pay a house mortgage and all the extra stuff that comes with owning a home. It’s THAT important to us.
  10. I currently work for a fortune global 200 company.
  11. I’m an avid fantasy football player and love the unpredictability each week brings. (GO King Cobras!)
  12. I never read a book because I wanted to until 2014. Since then I have started consistently reading roughly 1 to 2 books a month.
  13. One of my favorite books is one very few people have heard of but everyone SHOULD and NEEDS to read. Redefine Rich by Matt Ham. (non-affiliate link)
  14. I used to play a computer game online where I was ranked inside the top 50 in the world frequently along with 2 friends who were ranked in the top 25 if not the top 10 consistently.
  15. I despise sea food. I’m willing to try certain types if I know I have never tasted it, but it all ends up tasting like fish to me, YUCK!
  16. I’m a die-hard University of Texas fan, and 3 of my 4 children came home from the hospital, at their birth, in Longhorn clothes.
  17. We haven’t had cable TV in about 4 years, bunny ears, Netflix and Amazon are more than enough for us… except during football season, that’s a rough time of year.
  18. I had 3 knee surgeries before I was 21 and a 4th before I was 31. I’m expected to have a total knee or at least another surgery in 5-10 years. Yup they are THAT bad!
  19. I really enjoyed playing hockey when I was a teenager, something which contributed to the above mentioned surgeries.
  20. I have a Dr. Pepper problem, I “need” one a day to keep my sanity. 🙂
  21. I own a rare Mazda MX-6 M-Edition which I have been told there was only 2,500 made.
  22. My first car was a 1967 F-100 my dad bought for me by trading a welder.
  23. I am terrible at connecting with people one-on-one but somehow I thrive speaking in front of groups.
  24. I think I have taken just about every personality test out there. I’m an IN(S)TJ – Myers Briggs, High DS – DiSC if I remember correctly, Triangle/Box – Psychogeometrics, and have my top 5 strengths in strengthsfinder 2.0.
  25. It’s no secret and I’m not ashamed to say, I really enjoy Phineas & Ferb – a kids cartoon show.
  26. I was born in the great nation of Texas, but I root for almost anyone playing against the Dallas Cowboys. Sorry guys – He dropped it 😉 j/k
  27. I have over 500 movies in my collection, slowly but surely mine and my wife’s movies will be the minority to my kids’ movies.
  28. I used to greatly enjoy hacky sack, but the already mentioned knee issues have stopped me from really playing it much anymore.
  29. Arrow is one of the very few DC Comic’s characters I actually like. I’m definitely a Marvel guy.
  30. I love to be on book launch teams. The most recent one I am on is for a book called “Thankful” by Jimmy Akers. You can find information on his new book at Don’t Do Life Alone or Thankful Book.
